Bruce Nolan is a popular television news anchor in Buffalo. He is a pessimist and he is not interested in anything in this life, not even his girlfriend Grace, who loves him despite all his harmfulness. His reports are of interest to everyone but himself. Bruce's dream is to be a presenter, the more the place should become vacant. But one day, bad luck catches up with Bruce, and he is fired from his job. In the end, a frustrated Bruce gets angry at God, and God...gets back at him! The Almighty offers Bruce to replace him for a week and see if he can make the world even a little bit better.
