Two years have passed since the events in the Nakatomi skyscraper, when a gang of terrorists was neutralized by the efforts of John McClane. Now a brave policeman works in Los Angeles and new challenges await him here. His wife Holly has to return from a trip, so John waits for her at the Dallas airport. Noticing two suspicious people nearby, John chases them and gets into a shootout in the cargo area, after which he finds himself in a rather unpleasant situation. This time the airport is taken over by criminals who intend to rescue the drug lord Esperanza, who is about to be brought to the United States to stand trial for drug distribution. The airport is under the control of bandits and does not accept planes, one of which is John's wife. So he realizes that he has to help her: the planes don't have enough fuel to land at another airport.
