Alfred Pyuk - a conscientious tax inspector lives in the same apartment with his elderly aunt. When Madame Lobligois sets off on a truck to Clermont-Ferrand one winter morning to pick up the furniture left over from the sold house, her nephew is convinced he will never see her again. And this is confirmed. On the way back, the aunt suddenly dies, and the truck drivers, in order to avoid problems with the police, place her body in a wardrobe. Upon arriving in Paris, while the drivers were explaining everything that had happened to Alfred, their truck was stolen, along with the cargo, which included the dead Madame Loblijou. The notary public explains to Alfred that his aunt cannot be declared dead until the body is found, and Alfred begins a search for the stolen cabinet...
