According to the artist, physical training for the role of Hercules was one of the most difficult in his career. The work consisted in the fact that he dragged iron and all kinds of shells for eight months. In addition, Skala tried to enter the role not only physically, but also spiritually. For this, he tried to lead a fairly ascetic lifestyle for several months, even during filming. The film was shot almost entirely in Hungary, namely in Bucharest. There, work on the tape was conducted for six months and was stopped in mid-October 2013. This is not the first time that John Hurt has played in a film whose canvas reveals some mythical plot. Before that, he could be seen in Tarsem Singh's War of the Gods: Immortals (2011). In addition to famous actors, Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, for whom the film became her debut role, appeared in "Hercules".
