Baxter, an insurance company employee, becomes the object of attention of four managers at once through his apartment. They offer the hero a promotion if he gives them the opportunity to use the apartment for "left trips". A touching love story between simple employee C.C. Baxter and lifter Fran Kubelik, who work in the same company. It would seem that these two have no chance of being together. But as a result of a series of tragicomic events, everything turns out for the best.
