Paolo, the host of a popular talk show in the capital, is forced to go to a small town in the province of Bergamo for a while - he was informed that his father Giovanni was in the hospital. Giovanni works in a tiny theater company specializing in commedia dell'arte, and is rehearsing a new production in which he plays the role of Harlequin. Paolo, deciding to stay with his father for a while, rediscovers the joy of creativity.
