Fatima lives alone with her two daughters: Suad, 15, a rebellious teenager, and Nesrin, 18, who is preparing to enter medical school. Fatima does not speak French well and experiences this in her daily life with her daughters. Both are her pride, her drive, and her anxieties. To offer them the best possible future, Fatima works as a cleaner on an irregular schedule. One day she falls down the stairs. During her sick leave, Fatima begins to write in Arabic what she could not say in French to her daughters until now.
